HP DeskJet 2600 All-in-One Printer series

My chromebook is connected to wifi SSID "HP-Setup<16>DeskJet 2600 series"

 

I'm trying to configure Wi-Fi Direct at https://192.168.223.1/#hId-pgWifiDirect but can't because the page reports:

 

"The printer is currently busy running a wireless setup process using Wi-Fi Direct, so Wi-Fi Direct settings are not available at this time. Wait for up to 2 hours, and then refresh the browser window."

 

The printer has been on for over 2 days like this. How do I configure Wi-Fi Direct?

None of the topics in http://hp.care/2CVKPUR apply to my problem.

 

The wifi direct password 12345678 as shown in the network info page printed by my printer doesn't work when I try to connect to SSID "HP-Print-16-DeskJet 2600 series"

 

When I placed the printer into setup mode and connected to SSID "HP-Setup<16>DeskJet 2600 series" with my computer to visit https://192.168.223.1/#hId-pgWifiDirect to change the wifi direct password the page reports:

 

"The printer is currently busy running a wireless setup process using Wi-Fi Direct, so Wi-Fi Direct settings are not available at this time. Wait for up to 2 hours, and then refresh the browser window."

 

The printer has been on for over 2 hours and the page still doesn't let me change the password.

 

How do I configure Wi-Fi Direct?

 

While connected to "HP-Setup<16>DeskJet 2600 series" I ran the "HP Deskjet 2600 Series" software that is installed on my Windows computer. It can connect to the printer but I can't figure out how to change the wifi direct password and SSID.

I'd prefer to make all my configuration changes in EWS but will use Windows software if that's the only way to do it.

I recommend you try to access the EWS page from a Windows computer and check whether you are able to access it.

 

Here is how you can change the password.

 

Open an internet browser and enter 192.168.223.1 in the address bar. This will open the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS). In the EWS, click on Network, then on the left, under Wireless Direct Printing, choose Status. In the Status section, click on Edit Settings. You will now see the option to choose on with security and the section to customize the password.

I've connected to EWS on the printer using a browser in my Windows computer and I see the same result that I see using my Chromebook:

 

"The printer is currently busy running a wireless setup process using Wi-Fi Direct, so Wi-Fi Direct settings are not available at this time. Wait for up to 2 hours, and then refresh the browser window."

Enter Product number or select to autodetects

Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
