HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have troubles connecting my HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 printer from my PC (Windows 10, 64 bit). I have tried the followings, but the problem is not solved. Hopefuly someone can give me some advices on this problme.

1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software  package

HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers

2. I have tried to disable my firewall to see if the printer can be connected while firewall is off, but the problem still exists.

3. I have tried "HP Print and Scan Doctor". I can see my printer listed there, but when I try to connect it, the connection fails. I follow the instruction to power cycle my router and printer, and try it again, but none works.

My printer and my PC are connected to the same home wireless network.

4. My printer uses genuine HP ink.

Could someone please give some advice?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi @Hamp1765

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I understand that you are having problems connecting your HP Officejet Pro 8620

I'd like to help.

I suggest you restart your Router and do a Printer Reset.

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Then uninstall the Printer Driver from Root level.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers

Restart your computer, download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen instructions.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

Hi Krazy Toad,

Thank you very much for your step by step guide on how to fix this issue, unfortunately I am having the same issue and the steps provided didn't fix it.

I have to tell that the printer not being able to connect to my PC has started after we had a power outage a few days ago, some features like scan to network folder were not able to connect to the network folder even though the PC was turned on and connected to the network. On the other hand, if I tried to scan to PC it would send the document over.

When I try to re-install the full package as you mentioned, I still get the same error that the printer cannot be found, but if I look into the network, I can see that the printer and the scanner has been discovered.

I also disabled my firewall while installing the driver package, but the result is still that the printer cannot be seen.

This is getting very confusing as definitely the printer is being seen by my PC in the network, but the installation drivers cannot find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to find a solution.

I ended up connecting my HP OfficeJet 8620 to my homework through a network cable. The problem is then solved right away. The wirelss part of the hardware is broken. Nothing wrong with the software!

I also tried to connect the printer with the network cable, the result is the same, it is visible in the network, but the installation software cannot install it.

If someone has an AT&T DSL modem/router like an Arris, here is another possible solution that was the answer in my case for a different printer but similar connectivity issue. Find the HPNA configuration setting and turn it off. I spent hours on this issue and that was the solution that finally worked. Hope this helps someone else.ATT hpna Setting for printer communication.png
