So a mod can come in and edit my post, but not actually help? Meanwhile I have a nice, expensive, electric paperweight.

The error code "0x6100004a" typically appears on HP printers and is generally related to a hardware issue, often pointing to a problem with the printer's ink system or a print head failure. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this error:

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Check the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and that none of them are empty. If you find any cartridge low on ink, consider replacing it.
  • Check for any ink or debris on the cartridges or inside the cartridge compartment, and clean it carefully.

Clear any Paper Jams:

  • Check for any jammed paper inside the printer. Be sure to look in the input tray, output tray, and under the carriage that holds the ink cartridges.
  • Remove any jammed paper you find carefully to avoid damaging the internal parts of the printer.

Clean the Print Head:

  • If your printer has a removable print head, take it out and clean it gently using a damp lint-free cloth.
  • For printers with a non-removable print head, use the printer's built-in cleaning function to try to clear any blockages.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware version. You can update it using the HP software on your computer or by downloading the latest firmware from the HP website for your specific printer model.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • After trying the above steps, if the error persists, there may be a more significant hardware issue. Check the printer's display panel or use HP software to diagnose hardware problems.

Tried all steps, no resolution. It did kick out a paper jam error once on the 2nd or 3rd reset attempt, but I could not get the problem to repeat itself after that one time. 

 

Looks like we are going to call it a loss and do business with a different company, this issue did not begin until about a week after downloading new software.

 

More electronics to the landfill!

2. Select the country.

3. Enter the serial number of your device.

4. Select the country from the drop-down.

5. Click on "Show Options".

6. Fill out the web form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
