When printing I can usually select landscape mode. But when printing PDF files (perhaps other file types, I haven't tried them all) I do not have the option to print in landscape mode.
This is on Chrome OS and from Chrome browser. I can't try printing PDFs from other apps in Chrome OS, when I try to print a PDF from another app, the PDF opens in Chrome and I have to print it from Chrome. I am able to print websites and images from Chrome in landscape mode. The problem is printing PDF files in Chrome. Happens even when the file has been downloaded. Everything is up to date. I am technically savvy, please assume I have done the rudimentary stuff. Please don't tell me to try power cycling the printer or any other such stupidity 😉
Printer is Officejet 5740.

Welcome to HP support community.
Print the pdf as an image and check if that prints fine
-
Open the original pdf file.
-
Click File, and then select Print from the list.
The Print window opens.
-
Click Advanced.
The Advanced Print Setup window opens.
-
Click the Print As Image checkbox, change any other settings as desired, and then click OK.
Let me know how it goes.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

This might require remote access of the Chromebook to fix the issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I hope that helps.
Cheers.
