Printer stopped printing black. Cartridge was only 12 days in use with limited printing. We put in new black cartridge and it still will not print in black.

I went through the entire process of trying to determine why my printer would not print black. Final conclusion is that the Print Head is shot. New printer head is around $80.00, so we are putting that against a brand new printer. This one had printed over 7000 sheets, plus an untold amount of photos, and scanned many hundreds of photos.
Thanks for the good advice on how to determine what went wrong.

Did you soak the printhead as described in steps 14-16? This can often resolve the issue you are seeing.
