Hi @Scotiaprinter,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0X61000048 on an HP printer generally indicates an issue with the printer's carriage, paper feed system, or ink system. If the printer isn't taking paper from the tray, the problem may also be related to the paper feed rollers or the tray setup. Here’s how to troubleshoot.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.
    • This can often resolve temporary errors.

Check the Paper Tray

Ensure proper loading of paper:

  • Use plain white paper of the correct size.
  • Avoid overfilling the tray.

Adjust the paper width and length guides snugly against the paper.

Check for any obstructions or debris inside the tray or paper path.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Locate the paper feed rollers (usually accessible from the input tray or rear of the printer).
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  4. Allow them to dry completely before reassembling the tray.

Check the Printer Carriage

  1. Open the printer access door to inspect the carriage movement.
    • The carriage should move freely across the printer.
  2. Clear any paper jams or foreign objects.

Update or Reset the Printer Firmware

  1. Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date by checking the HP Support website.
  2. If you cannot update the firmware, perform a factory reset (refer to your printer’s manual for instructions).

Perform a Hardware Diagnostic

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool:

  • Download it from the HP website.
  • Run the diagnostic tool to identify and fix issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
