Once you cancel your instant ink subscription, the cartridges in the printer are supposed to function till the end of the current billing cycle. After that, you will need to replace those cartridges, regardless of their current ink status as they only function when the printer is covered by the instant ink subscription. I have seen a lot of posts where people are under the impression that they have purchased those cartridges. That is not how the program works. What you have purchased is ability to print a certain number of prints each month. HP agrees to supply you with the ink to make that possible. The reason that the cartridges cease to work is that if they did not, People would simply subscribe for one month to get a set of inks and then cancel and then sign up again when those cartridges are empty. It is really no different than a cellphone plan. Once you cancel your plan, you still have your phone but it will not function.
