HP Photosmart D7460

I searched this message board and have tried all of the instructions I found for this problem already.  Hoping for some new revelation!   I have cleaned the rollers, used a flashlight to scope out every nook and cranny for small pieces of paper or debris, shut the printer off and left it unplugged for 15 seconds, left it on and unplugged it for at least 15 seconds.  Nothing works to tell the printer that there is NO paper jam.  And yet, the message returns and prevents me from printing anything or using any tools.  Also, when the clear paper jam message is up, I cannot get the printer to shut down.

I realize this is a 10-year-old dinosaur, but it's the only one I have and I just spent $$ on a bunch of ink cartridges and can't get the printer to print!  Help!
