2018.11.03.2351.SATURDAY.LAST.DAY.OF.CDT. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE USE OF ALL CAPS IS DUE TO BEING VISUALLY HANDICAPPED - NOT BLIND, BUT I CANNOT SEE THE HUGE CAPITAL "E" WHICH USED TO BE AT THE TOP OF CLASSICAL VISUAL TESTS.

TO ME IT SOUNDS AS IF THE RESPONDER IS ANSWERING A QUESTION "CAROLINK" IS NOT ASKING.  SEEMS LIKE THE USER ''CAROLINK'' IS DESCRIBING A SITUATION WHERE THE PRINTER ACTS AS IF A  SPURIOUS ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD WAS SOMEHOW GENERATED, ALONG WITH AN ANOLMALY WHERE ALL OF THE OPTIONS NORMALLY ACCESSIBLE FROM THE PRINTER CONTROL PANEL REPLY WAS SIMILAR TO, "THIS FEATURE OR OPTION HAS BEEN DISABLED BY THE ADMINISTRATOR OR THE PERSON WHO SET UP THE PRINTER (DESPITE THE PRINTER IS IN AN "ERROR" STATE AS NO ADMINISTRATOR EXISTS AND NO ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD WAS EVER SET?)

THIS HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK AFTER DOING THE PRESCRIBED UNINSTALL/SHUTDOWN THE COMPUTER/RESTART THE COMPUTER AND REINSTALL THE CURRENT S/W FROM THE HP WEBSITE, FOR MY A7f88A (aka HP OfficeJet 8630 Pro eAIO --AND WHY USE THAT MOUTHFUL OF THE NAME WHEN A7f66A IS SHORTER AND IS THE MODEL NUMBER (NOT THE NAME - OPEN THE CARTRIDGE /CARRIAGE DRAWER AND ON EVERY HP PRINTER I HAVE KNOWN THE MODEL NUMBER IS VISIBLE IF YOU LOOK AROUND).

THE CURRENT S/W, WAS POINTED OUT BY THE HPprint/scan.Dr as HP Oj8630_198_exe, ca. 162 MB

(HP Officejet Pro 8630 Driver - hpdrivers.net) but something went wrong so that after the ''reinstallation'' of the A7F66A s/w was complete and I attempted to setup the webservices, verify the link to HP.CONNEXTED, and so on, each time I pushed the select a feature the "This feature has been diabled by the administrator or the person who set up the printer for you!  Please contact that person."

FROM HOURS OF INTENSE REASEARCH IT WAS DETERMINED ONLY A "FULL RESET" TO THE FACTORY DEFAULTS" WOULD CLEAR THESE SPURIOUS AND ANOMALOUS ERRORS SOMEHOW PRODUCED DURING THE REINSTALLATION PROCESS (AND NO THE EWS IS NOT  ACCESSIBLE, WHICH IF THE LOGIC IS CONSIDERED  HAS TO BE THE ONLY POSSIBLE OUTCOME FROM ALL THE BOGUS STATEMENTS ABOUT AN ADMINISTARTOR PASSWORD AND FEATURES BEING DISABLED.

ONLY IN ROUGHLY 6-8 DAYS OF SEARCHING WHEN TIME PERMITTED THE STEPS FOR A FULL RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS HAVE not BEEN FOUND?  MANY SEARCHES HAVE PRODUCED THE STEPS FOR OTHER hp PRINTERS, BUT ALAS EVEN THE "GENERIC 8600 FULL RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULT" AND THE EVEN THE "8610 FULL RESET RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULT" DO NOT APPLY/CANNOT BE EXTRAPOLATED FROM THE PERFORM A SUCCESSFUL OLBOTOMY ON THIS A7F66A PRINTER.

EVEN DOWNLOADED THE PDF USER GUIDE FOR THIS PRINTER AND READ IT, WHICH WILL IT DOES USE THE TERMS "RESET, PARTIAL RESET, AND FULL RESET" DOES NOT SEEM TO LINK TO THE "FULL RESET" DIRECTIONS IN THAT PDF DOEUMENT OR PROVIDE A HYPERTEXT LINK TO A WEBPAGE ON THE HP WEBSITE???

SINCERELY HOPE SOMEONE CAN CORRECT MY MISTAKEN STATEMENT ABOVE, GIVE ME THE ADDRESS OF THE FULL REST TO FACTORY DEFAULT, AND THAT I CAN AVOID LOSING ANOTHER WEEK WITHOUT USE OF THE A7F66A WHICH  HAS BEEN A REAL WORKHORSE FOR ME.

THANK YOU.

@hpbumbler,

Good day, Thank you for visiting the HP support forums. I will be glad to assist you. Great troubleshooting has been done in this regard. Kudos to you for that.

  • Are you able to access the EWS page of the printer?

Let's try these steps:

I will send you a private message to perform a semi-full reset on the printer. Check your forum private message box for instructions in the upper right corner next to the bell.

This will nail it for you as it is completely restored to factory settings. But remember that these steps are exclusive to your printer and don't work with any other printer.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
