Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer stopped printing with only a note stating that the printer is in 'standby mode'.  How do I fix this?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Read this info here carefully: Printer does not wake after entering Sleep / Auto Off mode and check your firmware datecode.

Download only HP LaserJet Pro M201/M202 series Firmware Update Utility ,

but first click "Expand all" and read the important information.
I recommend updating the firmware via a USB connection.

Downloaded and reinstalled HP settings.  The printer now does not respond at all, but at least I'm not getting that 'standby notice'.  Bummer.  This twelve year old printer was doing just fine until my wife tried printing something.  Have no idea what she clicked.  In any case, I hope I don't have to buy a new printer to resolve all this.
