Hello,

I have tried everything possible, but not matter what I do the printer refuses to print from tray 2. I have tried A4 / A3, plain / speciality paper and even removed tray 1 entirely but the printer flatlet refuses the paper in the second tray irrespective of which tray or paper type is specified in the print settings.

Please ensure the printer and Mac has the latest updates

Printer Firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Mac update: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541

Next change the default Paper Tray settings in the Printer's Control Panel

1. Make sure the printer is turned on.

2. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Setup).

3. Scroll and touch Tray and Paper Management.

4. Select either Default Tray or Tray Lock, and then select the appropriate option.

@KrazyToad,

Thanks for the response, maybe I should mention that I work for an Apple Reseller and was a techie. My Mac is 100% current, the latest driver and I already checked the printer firmware.

MacOS 10.14.5

Driver version 4.6.0

Firmware version EDWINXPP1N002.1912A.00

I have tried changing media in both trays, tried A4 and A3 and configured as such. I have even entirely removed tray 1 and irrespective of which tray I specify in the driver the printer always prints to Tray 1.

I have added photo paper in tray one and plain in tray 2, set the correct media types for each in the settings. If I try print it will print on the photo paper in tray 1 irrespective or tray or paper type setting. Either it prints, or tells me to insure the correct paper in tray 1. I have resorted to storing paper in tray 2 and manually swapping the paper.

Thanks,

Craig

Let's try these steps.

Load special paper in main Tray 1 and plain paper in Tray 2.

- Set the Tray 2 as the default tray.

- Ensure Tray 2 is not Lock. You can check those details in the Paper Tray settings in the Printer's Control Panel as instructed above

- Note: The printer will not use a locked tray even when the other tray is empty.

- Lock the main input Tray 1 and set Tray 2 as the default tray

- Try printing
