Hello,
I haven't used my Photosmart 8250 printer in years because, I ran out of ink and had another printer available. Well I just got gifted new ink cartridges and decided to use it but I can't get the pinks & black to work. These are all new cartridges. Not sure if perhaps something has dried up from sitting so long? Is there anything I can clean on it? It was hardly used and should operate like new.
I've already in "tools" cleaned and done advanced cleaning steps with the printer
Thanks!

@sheerer Welcome to HP Forums!
I have a few steps to help you out:
Some of HP’s inkjet systems are sensitive to air ingestion and water evaporation, which can cause ink to change over time, adversely impacting the printhead and the ink delivery components within the printer. To protect the printing system and ensure print quality, certain HP printers are designed to stop ink cartridges from working when they reach a built-in date, calculated from when each ink cartridge is installed. Some of these systems allow users to override the stoppage and continue printing at their own risk.

Thank you for the reply, but that is not the issue.. I did get a warning that the print cartridges were out of date and I could continue. Is there a way to clean the printer heads? Maybe they've dried up from sitting so long?

@sheerer I understand your concern, however, this printer only supports automatic printhead cleaning and we don't have an option to manually clean it as such, if you haven't done the automatic cleaning yet, here's how you do it:
Automatically cleaning the printhead
If you notice white lines or streaks on the photos you print, or in the color blocks of the self-test report, use this procedure to clean the print head. Do not clean the print head unnecessarily, as this wastes ink and shortens the life of the ink nozzles on the print head.
1. Press Menu.
2. Select Tools, then press OK.
3. Select Clean printheads, then press OK.
4. Following the directions on the printer screen, load letter or A4 unused plain white paper so the printer can print a self-test report after cleaning the print head.
5. Press OK to begin cleaning the print head. When the printer finishes cleaning the print head, it prints a self-test report. If you are dissatisfied with the print quality in the self-test report, repeat the cleaning.
Recycle or discard the self test report.
If print quality still seems poor after you clean the print head, try aligning the printer using the procedure described in Aligning the printer. If print quality problems persist after cleaning and aligning, contact HP Customer Care.
