Officejet 8015

My printer (Officejet 8015) has been an absolute nightmare ever since the warranty expired but it's latest thing is telling me there is a cartridge jam and refusing to print anything. I've already followed all of the steps the virtual 'assistant' gives and nothing has helped.

The other (less important) issues are as follows. If anyone has any help on these that would also be greatly appreciated:

It doesn't print cyan even though the cartridge is full and print head clean essentially turning my colour printer into a black and white printer

Only occasionally prints magenta even though the cartridge is full and print head clean

Sometimes pulls the paper through too far before starting to print so the top third of the paper is blank and the bottom third is missing even though the printer is set up as A4, I'm printing in A4 and the paper in it is A4

Endless paper jams when printing double sided (so bad that i ofter have to bin more paper than I keep)

I'm at a loss and growing tired of having a fight every time I need to print anything. Given the age of the printer (and the upfront cost) the amount of issues is crazy and this latest one has made my printer nothing more than a desk ornament (at least with the others I could still print something

Hi @AEwing,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a carriage issue with your HP Officejet 8015 Printer E3 error. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.

If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document: HP Printers - Carriage jam or E3 error

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
