hp photosmart C6380
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Photosmart C6380 printer.  Display error...paper jam...no paper found in front or rear.  After OK to printer, display error  carriage jam.  The cartridge holder is locked under the cover on the right side and will not move.  Extensive review of hp trouble shooting guides and other posts...no help...resetting the printer also no help.  Printer almost new...has only 40 pages printed

Try to move the carriage manually.

 

If the carriage move remove the cartridges and perform a hard reset on the printer.

 

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

 

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

 

Check if the issue persists.

Thank you for your help.  I've reviewed all of the hp service bulletins, but unfortunately, nothing helped.  The cartridge  is locked on the right side under the cover and will only move back and forth about an eight of an inch.  I can see that the printer head leaver is in the down position, and all the cartridges seem to  be locked into place.  This printer is almost like new with only 40 pages printed.  Needless to say, I'd be over joyed if I can get it to work, so hopefully you'll send me all the right answers.  Clark

This is a hardware issue with the printer, I would personally suggest you contact our HP Support.
