Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to connect my wireless printer directly to my desktop. Do I need to remove the device and then add the device to do this?

You can not have wireless and Ethernet connections at the same time.  Only 1 IP address per device. 

 

USB and wireless OR USB and Ethernet is allowed, which you have.    USB does not use IP addressing.

How do you to connect it?  USB cable, Wireless Direct??  Please fully explain  in detail.

USB cable from printer to desktop. Currently, both the printer and desktop connect wirelessly to the same router.

Oh, I didn't think so. When I go to the printer panel it still shows wireless connection active. It shows ethernet not connected. Is that the wired connection? All I did was plug the wire in. How do the printer and desktop know that I want them to communicate through the wire and not through the router?
