Changing ink and after opening access door the lid won’t open. Need help!

I’m trying to open the hp 7900e printer to change ink cartridges but after opening the access door the top will not lift but is stuck on the left side. Need help!

Make sure you are lifting both the document feeder and top cover together. If the document feeder is opened or lifted first the top is locked.
