I’m having trouble with my printer, it would always usually print automatically when sent a document through AirPrint or through the HP app, now it comes up with an error saying ‘check printer for errors’ even when the printer is on, and one the tick on the printer is manually pressed, only then will it print.

Hi @chrissybobby,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting an error message ‘check printer for errors’ on your HP printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID
  • From when did the issue start?
  • What device is your printer connected to?
  • Are you enrolled in the HP Instant Ink subscription program?
  • Are you getting the same error on any other device while using HP Smart?

While you respond to that, please go ahead and update the printer once.

Update the printer firmware:

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

If the issue persists then please go ahead and uninstall and reinstall HP Smart on your device.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
