I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer is showing the message "cartridge not communicating with printer" after you recently purchased a color ink cartridge, here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
 

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure the cartridge is compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 7855. Only HP cartridges designed for this model should be used. If it's not genuine or the wrong model, that can cause communication issues.

2. Remove and Reinsert the Cartridge

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the color cartridge, inspect it for any plastic tabs or debris, and then carefully reinsert it into the correct slot.
  • Close the door and turn the printer back on to see if the error clears.

3. Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts (the small golden or copper dots) on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow it to dry before reinserting.

4. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Outdated firmware can sometimes cause cartridge communication issues. Check for any available updates through the HP Smart app or on HP’s website.

5. Reset the Printer

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on to reset the system.

6. Use Genuine HP Ink

  • If the cartridge is not a genuine HP product, the printer may fail to recognize it. Non-genuine cartridges can sometimes cause communication errors, so try replacing it with a genuine HP cartridge.

7. Try Another Cartridge

  • If available, try using another color cartridge to rule out a defective one. If the new cartridge works, the original cartridge may be faulty, and you should contact the vendor for a replacement.
