Hello,
I have an HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw. This is the second of the same device I have owned, because the first was replaced under warranty and now the second device is experiencing the same issue I describe below.
The printer worked for about three months, then started doing an endless loop cycle when powering on with the following messages being displayed:
1. "System Initialize" with orange light displayed (about 12 seconds)
2. "Warming up please wait..." with flashing green light (for about two seconds)
3. "Ready to copy 100% 001" (for about two seconds)
4. "Warming up please wait..." with flashing green light (very briefly for about a quarter of a second)
5. "Phone"
After displaying the "Phone" message, the printer power cycles and goes through the same cycle again, and again, and again. The printer is not on long enough to connect to the network, even when hardwired.
I'm at a loss on how to fix this. This is my home printer and I got *almost* a year out of the original device and about three months out of the replacement before the same issue started happening.

During the continuous loop, do you hear any motor, scanner, or belt movement? Try removing the toners, waste box, and drum. Restart printer. Re-install drum, waste box, and toners. Restart printer without network, Wireless, or USB connection.

Hi NC,
Yes, towards the end of step 1 in the loop, the scanner moves, and between step 3/4 there is a brief mechanical noise from inside the printer (I assume the noise is from the drum).
I removed the toner, waste box, drum, then re-started the printer as you suggested. This allowed the printer to be on long enough for it to connect to WiFi and display the message to install the toner, but it did ultimately display the same "Phone" message and start looping. The mechanical noise mentioned before was not present with the toner/waste box/drum removed.
I then re-installed the toner, wastebox, and drum, and the printer continues to behave the same as described in the original post.
