Color LaserJet Pro MFP-M281fdw shows 49 Service Error after firmware update from 20th October

@Incith - I can give it another try tomorrow, but it didn't work for me when I shorted FW_Upgrade on my Rev B board. I even used a physical jumper so I'm certain those pins were shorted on power-on.
If DS2 is just an LED, then it's probably not needed (sorry, vision is terrible - it looked like it might be a cap when I first looked at it.)

Just tried it again. It doesn't work with my Rev. B formatter board. As you can see, the board is physically jumpered from the picture, and it's still bringing up the 49 service error. I even re-examined my header soldering under a magnifier, and it's perfect.

If your board did not have the pin header and resistors soldered in place you need to short the pads the arrows are pointing at.

The resistor needs to get bypassed, by either shorting directly to the pads marked with arrows or by solder on a resistor (probably a 0 ohm is populated) or a small wire.  and then you short the pin header.

This is how I made it while trying to fix it. as you can see I solder a piece of wire on R168.

First of all, thank you to all for your reports and trials.

I will try on mine today (I'm in France). And for your information I just remove the side panel to check what version I have, and it's written REV A but there is no header nor LED (in PS2) not transistor.

Maybe there is European version A and B and also another regional version A and B??

YES, it works!

My Printer is now working!

I have shorten the Connectors with a Paperclip and turn the Printer on.

After 3 Seconds you hear the Bing on the Computer, connecting to USB.

But I also have to send then ENG version from the above Link.

so, wir suchen auch seit ca. 2 Wochen nach einer plausiblen Lösung und haben diese tatsächlich hier aus der Community gefunden: er druckt wieder!!

Unglaublich....

Unser Drucker wohnt in Deutschland und sein Name lautet HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M281fdw.

Aufgeschraubt nach Anleitung hier aus Community

Das ist unsere Platine ohne Pins! Versucht zu überbrücken ohne Löten!! Nicht funktioniert...

Versucht mit Usbsent- nicht funktioniert...

Danach bei GOOGLE gefunden in HP Community:

Lösung von PrintMe12345 vom 11.11.22 der Link ist die Firmware Update hat ganz normal bei uns funktioniert und jetzt druckt er wieder wie vorher auch...

Wir arbeiten nicht für HP oder werden von diesen bezahlt- wir waren einfach nur verzweifelt !!

Follow the download link- click at the top of the right sight of the word download/ herrunterladen.

After them open it - the PC must connect with the printer per USB.

The Printer was on...

After opening it will become this picture- show it:

Then send firmware and wait...

and wait....

And then we hope it will be work like yesterday...

Standart Printer Driver from Windows must be install!

No technical or mechanical things...

But I guess that the printer has to be ON, and if it's ON the screen of the printer will be black and display the error 49 message.

When you did yours, was also the error 49 displayed during the firware transfer?
