HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdn

Product: HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M477fdn
Operating System: independent

What led to the problem:  I wanted to print an envelop. It did not start printing but gave me an error message that I should power cycle the printer, what I did. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact message.

Description:

When I power on my printer, it always gets stuck at Initializing screen. I already tried all the proposals I found in this great forum and other sources in the web without success.

My son had this problem before when I was on vacation and there it went away when I got back. The printer was off for a week or so.

But this time turning it off (unplug cable) for more than 10 hours doesn't help.
Among other things, I

  • removed cartridge and reset
  • NVRAM reset
  • Power cycle without cartridge and paper tray
  • Power cycle without cartridge, paper tray and external connections (LAN, phone, USB)
  • tried to connect by LAN and USB - printer is not accessible

I already exchanged the formatter board (see https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Color-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M477...) but the error remains.

I followed the «Troubleshooting Manual» concerning the power on problems and from that I guess that the DC controller should be fine.

Any other ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Breuniga,

If you have tried such hard reset as NVRAM and even replaced the formatter board, most likely you have a more complex problem with your printer: either firmware is corrupt or the memory section that stores such operating system image is having problems.

Our recommendation is to take the unit to a repair center for deeper inspection.
