Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using Windows 10. My printer is the Officejet Pro 8620. Lately it seems like it's taking forever to send the print job from the desktop to the printer.  I have followed a number of suggestions by unplugging/plugging the printer, changing the print jobs from normal to draft, updating the drivers, troubleshooting from the HP site, aligning and cleaning the print heads but nothing has changed..  Any suggestions?  Thank you...Joyce

I’m using the original cables that came with the packaging. Nothing new has been added or altered in either the desktop or printer. I keep thinking it’s has to be something in the settings. I’ve tried to research this but to no avail. I’ve updated the drivers and changed the print quality to draft but not a big difference. I also notice that if the printer is in sleep mode, I have tap the screen before I s go to the print command. I’m also wondering if any recent updates could have caused this. We’ve all had updates do novel things to our computers!!! Thank you.

Do you have the same problem when you print a copy from the front panel?

None.

Have you tried reinstalling the printer software?

You mentioned cables does that mean the printer is connected to a USB cable?

I had suggested that to my computer person, but he wasn't in favor of doing it.  The concern is that it may cause other issues as this printer is not brand new, or relatively new.  Do you think that it's worth the risk?  I know we can update the drivers after that, but would we be opening pandora's box?  Thank you,,,Joyce

That would be the first thing I tried.

Did he check the Windows system files, hard drive status and verify that there are no PUP's installed?

I won't see him for another month.  I printed out your suggestions and will show it to him when he comes.  Thanks again.  J;

...Another question: How many seconds do you think it should take for the printer to start printing from the time the print command is entered?  TY
