I've recently just set up my new printer deskjet 3630 and when I try to print from my Macbook pro its telling me that the printer is not connected. However, when I check the printer everything would appear to be connected....
I've already switched everything down, my computer, router and printer left them for a bit them switched them all back on but the same problem is happening. I've doubled checked the internet connection to make sure that both computer and printer are on the same and they are.
Could someone please advise, this is very frustrating and disappointing.
Many thanks.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer and it is connected wirelessly. I read that the when you try to print, you get a message stating that the printer is not connected. But upon checking the printer appears to be connected. You have switched off your computer, router and the printer and then powered them on and issue persists. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Does the printer print from other devices (if available) which are connected to the name network?
- Did any updates or software changes take place on the Mac after this the issue may have started?
- Does the printer work fine if connected via USB?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
- Please reset the printing system in Mac.
- Download and install the HP Easy Start.
Post the above steps the printer should communicate with your Mac. If the issue persists then I recommend you to download and install the firmware update for your printer. You may have to connect the printer via USB to make the firmware update get installed. Post the firmware is installed, you may again try to setup the printer wirelessly.
I hope this information helps. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. All the best! 🙂
