My printer is having configuration problems, and I can't seem to figure out how to get it to no longer have that error?

Hi @Xerxeramor,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A configuration problem with the HP Envy 6155e All-in-One Printer can result from various issues, such as incorrect setup, network connection issues, or firmware problems. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue.

Restart the Printer and Devices

  • Turn off the printer, computer, and router (if applicable).
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then turn on the router, followed by the printer and computer.

Verify Printer Setup

  • Check that the printer is properly connected to your network or directly to your computer.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is on the correct network. Re-run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel to reconnect.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP Support website.
  • This tool can automatically detect and resolve common configuration problems.

Check for Software and Driver Updates

  • Visit the HP Envy 6155e support page and download the latest drivers and firmware for your printer model.
  • Reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.

Reconfigure the Printer

  • If the printer was not set up correctly, reset it to factory settings:
    1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Settings > Restore Network Settings.
    2. After resetting, set up the printer again using the HP Smart App or the printer's control panel.
  • Re-add the printer to your computer using the Printers & Scanners settings in Windows or Printers & Scanners preferences in macOS.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Outdated firmware can cause configuration errors:
    1. On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Printer Updates.
    2. Check for and install any available updates.

Reset the Printer

  • If the issue persists, perform a full reset:
    • Unplug the printer from the power source while it's on.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and power it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
