Hi,
I am running a Mac OSX 10.7.5 with a non wireless HP Officejet pro 8500. Trying to run it connected to my airport express base station. It used to print for the first 2 years but no longer does. I have tried the suggestion above whilst connected via ethernet to the printer but the request timed out. I am at a loss as to what to do.

Help Please. My printer/scanner would work only once, then lose the connection. This 'all of a sudden' started to happen in the last week. This is my work printer, so my only option was to unplug the power to the printer, which would then restart and give me ONE MORE time to print or scan before Again loosing the connection. I'm not sure why this started happening. I've checked for updates and updated printer. Looking at your responses on this forum I read that I should delete the printer from my Printer in Systrem preferrences. (I'm using a macbook pro) I deleted the printer and when trying to RE-install it, it is now telling me: "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software" Now I can't use the printer AT ALL!! THis is my work printer please help ASAP.
Thank you

I'm having a similar problem with my 8500a / 910. My router is is a Netgear WNDR 4500 and has been very dependable. The computer is a PC. My printer seems to go offline without rhyme or reason. I turn it off and am then able to print with no problem. A half hour later, I try to print something, the printer display says "now printing" and nothing happens. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer, I've tried unplugging it and the router, plugging back in...No joy. I could be wrong, but it seems this problem started when I synced my new smartphone on wifi and Bluetooth. I've turned off wifi on the phone with no effect. I'd really rather use the wireless connection but it's looking like a wired connection is the only thing I can resort to for dependable printing. All this started happening after two years of flawless operation.
Thanks in advance for any light you may be able to put on this.

OK, clearly my issues have nothing to do with the wireless connection. I uninstalled the printer, connected it via USB, reinstalled and rebooted the PC. It's doing the same thing: Initially works fine, then hangs up exactly like it did in wireless mode. Could this be a spooler issue? Where do I go from here?

The wireless functionality of this printer seems to have broken. Is there a diagnostic to run to determine it's status?
The blue wireless button on the front is lit, but within the main screen it is not there. When I select the Wireless Wizard, it does not find any wireless networks.

Yup, run a Wireless Network Test from the Network Menu on the front of the printer. You may want to Restore Defaults from the same Network Menu before you run the test.
