HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello all,

I have just unboxed and set up my new HP Deskjet 2710e printer. It prints fine, there are no issues with wireless or USB connectivity between the printer and my other devices, there is no paper jamming, the WiFI signal strength of the printer is good, etc. The only problem is that there is an exclamation mark on the LED screen (see image attached - the exclamation point is next to the '0').

I looked through the forums and the instruction manual, and while the manual said to check the app, other people on the forums did so - and so did I - and we could not find the reason for why there is this constant exclamation mark.

It has been on the printer LED screen since I unboxed it. What does this exclamation point mean? How can I get rid of it? I have tried restarting my printer as another forum suggested, by plugging and unplugging the printer from the wall socket. But this does not resolve the issue, and it seems a lot of other people in the community are having the same problem.

Any fixes? I do not want this to become a more serious problem in the future. Thank you.

Hi @_wexuyt

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you want to know about the information light on the HP DeskJet All-in-One Printer. The information light cannot be disabled, it is designed to remain on. Pressing the information button prints a printer information page. The printer Information Page provides a summary of the printer information and its current status

Try these steps -

1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 60 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

There is a possibility the printer is indicating an error message if there are any issues with the printer.

You may also refer to this document for more information.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of the function of the information light and what it does. I am talking specifically about the exclamation mark on the LED screen. I printed an information page, a status report page, and a wireless network test page. None of these pages indicate there is anything wrong with the printer. So why is there still an error exclamation mark symbol?

I did as you suggested, turning on the printer, unplugging it, waiting, and plugging it back in. But the exclamation mark has not disappeared. I also looked at the document you linked. Thank you for that, but it did not offer suggestions for how to get rid of this exclamation point.

If the printer still prints fine, and no status reports indicate any issues, why is it still displaying this error symbol?

Thank you.
