I purchased a HP Color Laser MFP 179 fnw All-in-One Printer in June of this year and the consumables seem much older than the machine! My total impressions is 6267 but I have already replaced the imaging Unit (supposed to have a life of 16000) and am now being told I need to replace the transfer belt and fuser (supposed to have lives of 20000). The consumables I now need are well over the cost of a new printer! I'm still under warranty - surely I should be getting either replacement consumables or a replacement printer provided. This is a critical part of my WFH-ability and I cannot work without it!! Every day I am down is a problem.

It's important to know how much you have colour impressions and how much b&w impressions.
Page yield of the drum is 16000 b&w but if you print in colour then the yield is 4 times smaller 4000 pages.
You need to take a number of your b&w impressions and add to that number 4 x colour impressions if the result is over 16000 the drum needs replacement.
For example, you have 3500 b&w impressions and 3000 colour impressions drum consumption is 3500 + 4x3000=15500 pages.

That's the bad side of cheap devices, in the end, you have more cost per page.
Regarding the fuser and transfer belt life, they should last 20000 pages no matter if you print b&w, colour or combined.
Don't know why is your printer already reporting a fuser and belt needed to be replaced, you can find instructions on how to reset fuser and belt page count on google if you search TECH MODE for your printer model.
