I recently accepted a message on my printer control panel for an upgrade.  I was in a hurry and didn't totally understand what it was for.  Since accepting the upgrade my control panel now flashes and won't go to the home screen or stat still long enough to accomplish a task.  What has HP done to my printer?

Hi @RikkiKay,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the firmware upgrade might not have been successful or may have caused some issues with your printer's control panel.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the blinking control panel issue:

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the control panel still blinks.
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes resetting the printer to its default settings can resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. This will usually involve pressing a combination of buttons on the printer's control panel.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: If the blinking started after accepting a firmware upgrade, it's possible that the upgrade wasn't successful or compatible with your printer. Check the HP website for any new firmware updates specifically addressing this issue. If available, download and install the firmware update following the HP instructions carefully. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
