M277dw, printing a Word doc w/custom size of 7.5 by 5.5 inches. I have created a named (Holiday 2023) paper size with these dimensions. I have checked every page size setting I can think of in the document itself and in the printer setup dialog.  It prints in the correction orientation, but somewhere it thinks paper size should be standard letter so it offsets the image to accommodate letter size. First jpg is how it should look, second is how it comes out of the printer. (Hmm, can't even get the images to embed here ...)

Help, anyone??

Welcome to the HP Community --

Disclaimer:  I don't know Laser Printers -- should I give you bad advice, it's just a symptom of my not knowing when to leave well enough alone...  Humbug.

The off set is visible in the example (yes, your samples are obscured from public view -- private information is just not allowed).

Assuming for the moment that the custom paper size form is not odd, configured incorrectly, or not a match to the paper type you are using, then sure - a supported custom size paper and supported print format should work.

Make sure the settings for paper size / type in the printer are a match to the paper size AND type in your printing software / application.

What?  If the printer thinks (is set) differently from the print app (used for job submission), it will fail outright, issue an error, or print and behave as if it knows what it is doing.

Reload your paper and immediately check the Printer Control Panel for the Paper Size / type settings - confirm / modify.

OR

Better, sit at your computer (or other device) and use the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

I believe the paper settings you want are somewhere under the System tab.

Make sure the paper type is set to reflect a supported paper -- Brochure matte, thick, "something" that tells the printer about the paper so it knows how to pass that paper through the printer.

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section How do I manually assign an IP address to my printer?  Items 1-2

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab System

What else?

Export the Word document to PDF > Save the PDF file > Print that.
