My color laser jet pro MFP M281fdw has a 55.0602 Error. The HP site identifies this as DC controller NVRAM access error. No solutions are available on HP site except to turn off and turn back on. No change, same error. Any fixes or know-how out there, or do I buy a new printer?

Hi @Roy4321,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the 55.0602 Error.
The "55.0602 Error" on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw indicates a DC controller NVRAM access error, as you've correctly identified. This type of error usually requires a bit more troubleshooting beyond a simple power cycle. Here’s what you can try to resolve the issue:
Steps to Resolve HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw 55.0602 Error:
Power Cycle:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes to allow any residual power to dissipate.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a partial reset of the printer to clear any temporary issues:
- Press and hold the lower right-hand corner of the touchscreen while powering on the printer.
- Hold the corner until the printer begins the start-up process.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve underlying issues.
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model.
- Download and install any available firmware updates following the instructions provided.
Inspect and Reset NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory):
- NVRAM stores certain settings and configuration data. Resetting NVRAM can sometimes clear errors like the 55.0602 Error:
- Access the printer's service menu or admin settings (specific steps may vary by model).
- Look for an option to reset or initialize NVRAM.
- Follow the on-screen instructions or refer to the printer’s manual for guidance on resetting NVRAM.
Additional Tips:
- Ensure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and not through a surge protector or power strip, as this can sometimes cause power-related issues.
- If the above steps do not resolve the error, it may indicate a hardware issue that requires service/repair.
- Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
