Hi @vid2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue. Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the DNS communication problem with your HP OfficeJet 3830:
Step 1: Check Printer Connectivity
- Verify that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel by navigating to the network settings.
- Restart your router and modem. Sometimes, a simple restart of your network devices can resolve connectivity issues.
Step 2: Reconfigure Network Settings
- Log into your router’s settings (usually through a web browser by entering the router’s IP address).
- Reserve a static IP address for your printer. This ensures the printer always uses the same IP address on your network, which can help avoid DNS issues.
- On your printer's network settings, manually set the DNS server to a public DNS such as Google’s (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
Step 3: Update Firmware and Drivers
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP OfficeJet 3830. You can do this via the HP support website or through the printer’s settings.
- Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
- Download and install the latest drivers from the HP support website.
Step 4: HP Smart App and HP Instant Ink Account
- Ensure the HP Smart app on your device is up to date. Sometimes, updating the app can resolve communication issues.
- Re-login to your HP Instant Ink account through the HP Smart app.
- Log into your HP Instant Ink account on a web browser.
- Verify that your subscription is active and there are no issues with your account.
Step 5: Clear Print Queue and Reset Printer
- On your computer, go to the Devices and Printers section, find your HP OfficeJet 3830, and clear the print queue.
- As a last resort, perform a factory reset on your printer. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel under settings. Be sure to reconfigure your network settings afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
