Normally I have my printer Deskjet Ink Advantage defaulting to black and white printer. Recently anf foolishly, I changed it to colour printing. I now want to reset the default to b/w printing. However, when I go to print preferences and change it, the changes won't save. This means that I now have to manually change to b/w printing for every print job. Does anyone know how to change the default printer settings.
Thanks

Hi @3C21,
Good Day. Thank you for stopping by the HP forums. I understand that you require assistance regarding printing in black. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂
Great description and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. :). I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
For better clarity, I would require more information regarding this to assist you:
- Have you tried multiple apps and checked if it prints only in color?
For now please uninstall the printer software completely by following these steps:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2sKd6qP and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix it for you.
Please check this link: http://hp.care/2sJOvCt on how to change the print driver settings. Check all the options under “Color and black & white settings” This should do the trick for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps. Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
