Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey!

So I've been having issues with my printer and I need help. I had mine for around 2 years when I started Having issues and now I can't print at all. I re Installed the printer on my windows. It printed one page in colour once. And now it just shows mismatch between size and only in colour option available. 

However, I haven't changed the paper I have been printing with from the start, and before had  no problem printing same type of docs or in monochrome/gray-scale.

The printer's model is: HP DeskJet 2700e All in one printer

 

Can someone please advise or the days of this printer came to an end ?

There might be something non-fatal going on.

 

It is uncommon for the printer mechanics to fail outright.  Yes, it can happen.

 

Software, on the other hand, is vulnerable to the vagaries of the Windows environment.

 

One or more of the following might help track down and correct the source of the problem.

 

  • (Re)Check (for the sake of completeness) the Tray and Paper settings using the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
  • Check / Reinstall the full driver printer software - After the printer software is installed, Restart computer
  • Check / Adjust the Default Printer - Uncheck the setting that allows Microsoft to manage the default printer
  • Check / Adjust the Driver setting in Printer Properties > Advanced -- Select the HP driver and not the IPP / Microsoft driver

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Printer Software

 

If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

 

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

 

NOTES:  

 

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

 

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.

 

 If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, Fax software is installed to support the setup and use of the Fax driver.

 

No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.

 

 

Reinstalling?

 

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features. 

    Reference:  Uninstall HP printer software and drivers / HP Smart

     

  • If your printer software includes a separate "Help" segment in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only 

 

In general, the web pack should load -

 

Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator

 

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

 

Using USB?  (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.

 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

 

 Note Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

 

  • Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
  • HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model

OR

  • HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
  • HP Scan - Shortcut named for itself

AND / OR

  • When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut
  • NOTE >> If you install the full driver printer software, installing HP Universal Scan as a standalone software from category Software & Drivers is not necessary.  The system will allow you to install both.

After the printer software is installed, check / manage the Default Printer

 

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

 

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down > Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

 

 

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

Printer Properties

Microsoft / IPP Class drivers do not provide full access to the printer features.

Install the Full Feature Software for the printer and then check Printer Properties

 

 Check that Printer Properties are correctly selecting the HP Driver.

Important

 

DeskJet printers do not support Borderless

and

DeskJet printers require a larger margin along the bottom edge of the paper

 

These limitations impact how content is printed on paper.

 

This DeskJet printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge (1/2 inch).

There is no software, firmware, or alignment that changes the larger margin requirement.

 

The solution to "chopped off" is to keep all data inside of 1/2 inch / 12.7mm on the bottom edge. 

 

This limitation includes all text, images, page numbers, footer information, cells, tables, lines, other notations, and all file types, too.

 

 

Create your original document with 12.7mm ( 1/2 inch ) margins.
