I have 2 OfficeJet 8600 and 8610 printers. After replacing empty cartridges, both have been reporting print system/damaged cartridge errors. Using official HP Cartridges. Rebooting/Power disconnect hasn't helped, neither has reset to defaults command. Printers were working fine. Have checked the contacts in the cartridges and print head/carriage, also the print heads are properly installed and clean.
You no longer source the cartridges for these printers, but I have several sealed HP replacements from e-bay. Recent dates on the pkgs. Oddly enough a few of these 951 cartridges are rejected by the printer as being incompatible.
No apparent mechanical issues. Never used non HP cartridges.
Can't print or copy. Would like to be able to at least scan. I really like these printers, The easy two sided printing plus I have the accessory second paper tray makes them perfect for my needs.
Is there any method to reset the printers beyond turning them on and off?
