Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Deskjet 2630 is printing almost blank pages, they are 99.9% blank with some bits of print here and there.

There are random lines printing on random parts of the page and I have run every diagnostic tool & updated the drivers, but nothing is working. Ink levels are fine and the HP smart app is assuming that every test print and head cleaning option I have run has successfully completed. Is the printer broken beyond repair ?

Hi @njm21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 2630 is printing almost blank pages, it could be due to several reasons. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you identify and resolve the issue.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that your ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Low or empty cartridges can result in faint or blank prints.

Print a Test Page:

  • Most printers have a built-in test page option. Print a test page from your printer's control panel or through your computer's printer settings to see if all colors are printing correctly.

Clean the Print Heads:

  • If the test page shows streaks or missing colors, you may need to clean the print heads. HP printers usually have a built-in cleaning function in their software. You can access this through your computer's HP printer software or the printer's control panel.

Align the Print Heads:

  • Sometimes, aligning the print heads can improve print quality. You can typically do this through your printer software or the printer's control panel.

Check for Clogged Nozzles:

  • If your printer hasn't been used for a while, the nozzles might be clogged. Most HP printers come with a utility for cleaning the print heads. Run this utility to clear any blockages.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Using third-party or refilled ink cartridges can sometimes lead to print quality issues. Ensure you're using genuine HP ink cartridges.

Adjust Print Quality Settings:

  • In your printer settings on your computer, make sure you have selected the appropriate print quality settings. Setting it too low can result in faint prints.

Check Paper Quality:

  • Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper that your printer supports. Using incompatible paper can affect print quality.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can cause printing problems.

Restart Your Printer and Computer:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve printing issues. Turn off both your printer and computer, wait for a minute, and then turn them back on.

Try a Different Document:

  • Print a different document or image to see if the issue is specific to one file or application.

Inspect the Cartridges:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any protective tapes or plastic covers that you might have missed during the initial installation.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a hard reset on your printer. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
