Purchased with PC & Windows 8. Upgraded to 8.1. When notified by Microsoft, updated to 10. This printer had worked. Continued to work. Just - once in a great while, usually when I run out of paper, it stalls. I go in my files for "HP Printer install Wizard.exe" and using that, the printer works after a restart/reboot.
All of a sudden, today. I ran out of paper. Inserted some paper and printer don't print. I tried all the usual: above, restart, unplug/replug, etc. Nothing works. Went online to search and the web site won't recognize my printer. ?? So I put in the original CD and tried "install". That didn't work. Tried installing from any file that showed .exe and such. Nothing works. Help!
FYI The web site shows I have a warranty that don't expire until Nov 2016. But I can't get any help anywhere. No phone numbers. Searching the Internet, this is the only option I see available to me.

Try reset the firmware to factory default..
Input the IP address of the printer in the search bar of any browser, when the webpage opens, click: Setting > Restore Default.
To find the IP adress, press the wireless button and information button simultaneously.

I really don't understand "reset to default", etc. I had checked all my settings and such. They were all correct. It was nothing more than the PC and printer were not communicating. I unplugged everything. Restarted the PC. Plugged all cords back in, and it now works. So what did I do? As for the driver, the W10 driver had already been installed and I did download it new and that may have contributed to the success too. It's a good thing it is connected by USB. I don't think I can connect via WiFi or whatever you call it. That instruction is way over my head.
