Deskjet 3720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear All

Please help.

Yesterday I replace both the black and tri-colour ink cartridges with genuine HP replacements (bought from reputable high street store). Tri colour registers as full, the black registers as empty. I've tried removing, re-installing, switching off/on (as per several online suggestions) but still registered as empty and nothing prints.

Please advise on how to get this printing.

The model Deskjet 3720 has been rarely used, principally becuase there have been a host of other problems which HP has been unable to support online.

Best regards

Satya99

@Satya99,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Print the Quality Diagnostics page: For Windows

  1. Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.

The HP Printer Assistant software opens.

  2. Click Print & Scan.

  3. Click Maintain Your Printer.

    The HP Toolbox opens.

  4. Click the Device Services tab, and then click Print Quality Diagnostics Page.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

Evaluate the report for any defects.

  • If there are defects found, try the steps mentioned in this document
  • Alternatively, you can try these steps here

If the issue persists, you could try to use the old ink cartridge and check if that helps.

If nothing works, I would suggest this could either be an issue with the ink cartridges or with the printer itself.

I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.

HP support can be reached on www.hp.com/contacthp

Select the product type.

Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

Select the country from the drop-down.

You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
