Hi I have just connected my new deskjet 3720 and after numerous attempts have connected the wifi to the printer. The blue wifi light is on continuously and the wifi direct white light is illuminated. I have the USB cable connected also. However when i ask to print the white on/ off light (on/off button) flashes and no printing takes place. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
Blinking power button means that printer is processing a job, if the power button is blinking fast then it indicates that the cartridge access door is open. If the cartridge access door is closed and the light is blinking fast, then the printer is in an error state.
Is the power light blinking fast?
Are you able to copy documents?
Could you also try to print a self test page and let me know the results. In order to print a self test page:
1.) Press and hold the Power button , and then press the Cancel button
.
2.) Let go of the Cancel button and then the Power button.
Let me know!

Hi, thanks for the info. The printer will print the information pages etc and network test page no problem. If I ask it to print a document the on/off light blinks slowly, approximately a second on, second off. The job appears for a split second in the print queue but disappears before you can read it. The light then continues to flash like its paused but the printer makes no effort or noise like its doing something. Hope that helps.

Hi @BoneyM, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @senan6806, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Reconnect the USB cable to a different port directly on the computer. If problems continue, unplug all other devices from all USB ports on the computer, then use a different USB cable to connect the printer.
Check for issues with the wireless network
The following factors can cause the printer to lose the wireless connection:
-
The network connection is no longer active, or has low signal strength.
-
The printer goes into sleep mode or standby mode.
-
The printer is either too far away from the wireless router, or too close to it. The recommended distance between the printer and the router is 1.0 meter to 1.5 meters (3 ft to 5 ft).
-
A firewall prevents the printer from accessing the computer and wireless network.
-
A nearby device that emits radio signals (such as a microwave or cordless telephone) might interfere with the wireless connection.
-
Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.
-
Bonjour support: HP recommends routers that support Bonjour, Apple's network discovery software. Connecting with Bonjour is the best way to find the printer and support wireless printing.
