Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Let's clean the ADF rollers:

  1. Gather the following materials:

    • A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that does not come apart or leave fibers

    • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the printer)

  2. Remove the original document from the ADF.

  3. Turn off the printer.

  4. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  5. Open the ADF cover.

  6. Find the paper pick rollers and the separator pad inside the ADF.

  2. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with filtered or distilled water, then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.

  3. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the paper pick rollers and the separator pad.

  4. Leave the ADF cover open for two minutes to allow the paper pick rollers and separator pad to dry.

  5. Close the ADF cover.

  6. Reload the original document print side up in the document feeder tray. Gently slide the document into the printer as far as it can go.

  7. Slide in the paper width guides until they are snug against the paper.

Do not push the paper width guides in so far that they bend the paper.

  8. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  9. Turn on the printer, then try to scan.

Thank you for the suggestions but this problem only seems to happen when I scan at 24bit colour through the auto scan feeder. All other colour settings scan fine. Any ideas?

Hello,

I have just purchased an HP 3835 inkjet advantage scanner / printer and I have installed it to work with a Windows 7 PC (connected via USB).

I have a similar problem with the ADF as the one mentioned in the current post.

In my case although the feeder works fine (it gets all the pages), the resulted pdf file does not contain all the information of the page scanned. The problem is not always the same, i.e. sometimes there are missing parts of the scanned page (a4 size) in the right side of the page, some other times at the bottom of the page and sometimes it seems that the page has been scanned rotated in 45 degs although it is fed in the right direction without any misalignment.

All the other features of the scanner work perfectly.

Is there any suggestion ?

@EGP3

I'll be glad to assist you with this issue.

Let's follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

Uninstall and then reinstall the software

Uninstall and reinstall the Adobe software to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Add or remove programs.

  2. In the list of installed programs, click Adobe Reader, and then click Uninstall or Yes.

  3. If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal. If the software uninstall process does not start or an error displays while uninstalling, download Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed (in English) from the Microsoft website, and then try uninstalling again.

  5. After Adobe Reader uninstalls, close all programs and web browsers, and then restart the computer.

  6. Open a web browser, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (in English), and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

  7. Try printing the original pdf file again.

Change the default program

Set Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as the default program for viewing pdf files.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control panel, and then click Programs.

  2. Click Default Programs, and then click Associate a file type protocol with a program.

    The Set associations window displays.

  3. Find and select .pdf, and then click Change Program.

  4. Click Other Programs, select Adobe Acrobat Reader DC from the list of results, click OK, and then click Save.

  5. Try printing the original pdf file again.

Print the pdf as an image

You can print a pdf file as an image.

NOTE:

Printing a pdf file as an image can result in blurry images or fonts, especially along the edges of the print.

  1. Open the original pdf file.

  2. Click File, and then select Print from the list.

    The Print window opens.

  3. Click Advanced.

The Advanced Print Setup window opens.

  4. Click the Print As Image checkbox, change any other settings as desired, and then click OK.

Printing the pdf file as an image

Check if this helps you out!
