Hi @byrongwillym,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 4220e is unable to connect to HP servers for web printing or cloud tasks, even though printing, scanning, and Wi‑Fi setup pages work fine. Let’s go through steps to troubleshoot this situation.

Check Web Services status
On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Web Services and confirm that Web Services is enabled.
If it’s already on, try turning it off, then on again to reset the connection.

Verify date and time settings
Incorrect date/time can prevent secure server connections.
On the printer panel, check that the date, time, and time zone are correct.

Check firewall and network restrictions
Make sure your router or computer firewall isn’t blocking outgoing connections to HP servers.
Temporarily disable firewall/security software and test web printing.

Test on a different network
If possible, connect the printer to a mobile hotspot or a different Wi‑Fi network.
This checks if your ISP or router is blocking access to HP cloud servers.

Reset EWS and Web Services
You mentioned resetting Web Services, but also try restoring the printer to factory defaults for network and web services:
Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults → Network Settings Only.
Then re-enable Web Services.

Re-add printer in HP Smart / HP account
Remove the printer from your HP Smart app and sign out of your HP account.
Add the printer again, making sure you use the exact same HP account for cloud features.

Update firmware via USB (offline method)
If the printer can’t connect to HP servers, download the latest firmware from HP on a PC and update via USB.
This can resolve some server connectivity bugs even when online updates fail.

I hope this helps.
