Hey there! @GE-Bob,

Try few steps recommended below.

Reset the product

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  3. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

  6. Turn the printer on.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Open the top cover. The print cartridge carriage should return to the right side of the printer. If
the carriage does not return to the right side, turn off the printer, and then move the carriage to
the right. Pull any jammed paper towards you.

The print cartridge carriage may be moving into its correct position. Be sure
the print cartridge carriage is parked at the right-hand side of the printer before removing
or installing print cartridges.

If you have trouble inserting the print cartridge after lifting the carriage latch, verify the
printer is on and wait a few seconds for the carriage to disengage before inserting the print cartridge.

Refer the printer user guide to know more information about clearing jams on the printer. Click Here

Note: Refer page 107 for more information

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issue with the printer.

Thank you for the reply. I have already tried your recommended actions.  The ink carriage appears to be jammed into the right side of carriage travel. There is a plastic "gate" blocking removal of ink cartridges. I suspect the ink carriage is locked in place as it will not move manually. I cannot see a mechanical latch holding it in this position. Through all of this, the only led that is on is the power supply cube on back side of printer.

I believe that if I can somehow release the jammed ink carriage, I can tried other actions that you recommended.  Thanks

Hi! @GE-Bob,

Thanks for responding. As the parts on an HP printer are not customer accessible or removable.

You need to contact HP support for service options for a whole unit replacement.
