Deskjet 2540

Hello,

I really hope someone can help?!

My deskjet 2540 printer wont print! I've spent ages trawling through help pages - tried uninstalling the printer software etc but am just going round in circles!

I printed off a network configuration page and see that the network name is an old account, having searched the HP advice pages under this, I saw advice saying enter the IP address into the safari search bar, I have done this (with the http:// prefix) and nothing happens.

I am wondering in my quest (!) to get it to work that I have messed up either the wireless configuration or the printer set up.

Any help would be fantastic! Thanks in advance

Hi,

Iam glad that its working for you. The feature which you are using now is called wifi direct which doesnt involve a router. It is absolutely fine to use it that way.

Any concerns, please feel to post to Hp forums. Have a good day 🙂

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that the printer is not connecting to your new network. When you printer it shows your old netowork. That means we will have to reconfigure the wireless setup. Please follow the following steps:-

1)Remove complete software from your computer.

2)If you have connected USB cable between printer and computer please disconnect it.

3)This is important step. We will have to restore the network settings. For that  press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for 5 seconds.

4)Reinstall the software and for the wireless setup you will need USB cable so that the wireless settings will be send from your computer to the printer.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Hi Binoy, thanks very much for your response, before I got your message, the network configuration page told me to run the wireless printer setup...I held down the wireless button and resume butto. I the printer and it printed out a page called 'using the printer wirelessly without a router. I followed these instructions and it worked!!! Is there any disadvantage to doing it this way? Should I still follow your instructions? Many thanks
