Hi @JJ121617,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble connecting your new printer using a QR code, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Step 1: Ensure Printer is Ready
- Power On: Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. Look for a solid Wi-Fi light on the printer.
Step 2: Use the HP Smart App
- Install the App: If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Open the App: Launch the app on your smartphone or tablet.
Step 3: Scan the QR Code
- Select “Add Printer”: In the HP Smart app, tap on “Add Printer.”
- Use Camera: When prompted, use your device's camera to scan the QR code on the printer's screen or on the setup page.
- Follow Prompts: Follow any prompts in the app to complete the setup.
Step 4: Troubleshooting Connection Issues
- Check Permissions: Ensure that the HP Smart app has permission to use your device’s camera.
- Good Lighting: Make sure the QR code is well-lit and clear when scanning.
- Print a New QR Code: If the QR code isn't scanning, try printing a new one from the printer's settings menu.
Step 5: Manual Setup
If the QR code method fails, consider setting up the printer manually:
- Open HP Smart App: Go to the app and select "Add Printer."
- Choose Manual Setup: If the printer doesn’t appear, look for an option to add it manually and follow the prompts.
Step 6: Check Network Settings
- Ensure Same Network: Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to connect to.
- Network Status: Check the printer’s network status and ensure it’s connected to the correct network.
Step 7: Reset Printer Network Settings
- Reset: If all else fails, consider resetting the printer’s network settings to factory defaults and trying the setup again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
