Since yesterday my HP Officejet Pro 8710 is not responding anymore. Even after switching off the power cable and waiting hours the printer does not respond at the touch screen and even switching off button does not work.

After re-connecting the power cable and pressing switch-on button in parallel the printer is first starting and then the display is getting black again but the three elements on the left are visible (see picture - home, question mark back arrow). Pressing those buttons does nothing. But now I'm able to switch on the printer, printer ist starting but again display does not respond and switching off is not working.

Printer is connected via LAN cable, but no access from the computer. And of course printing is not possible.

Any ideas how to do a hard reset or something similar?

Hi @Naya5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Officejet Pro 8710 is experiencing some technical issues with the display screen and responsiveness. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Power Cycle: You've already tried this, but it's worth mentioning again. Unplug the power cable from the printer, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and try turning it on again.
  • Reset Printer: Look for a reset button or a pinhole reset option on your printer. Typically, this involves using a small pin or paperclip to press and hold the reset button for a few seconds. Refer to your printer's manual for the exact location of the reset button.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause issues with the display and functionality. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by downloading it from the HP website and following the instructions for installation.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables, including the LAN cable, are securely connected to the printer and your network router. A loose connection could cause communication problems between the printer and your computer.
  • Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a factory reset on your printer. This will restore the printer to its original factory settings, but keep in mind that it will also erase any custom settings or configurations you've set up. Again, refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8710.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
