Hi @Frank1F,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy Photo 7855 is having trouble detecting the paper in the tray. Since you've already checked for paper jams, cleaned the rollers, and verified the paper type and settings, here are some additional steps you can try.

Check the Paper Sensor: There could be an issue with the paper sensor. Gently wipe the area near the paper tray, where the sensor may be located, to ensure it's not obstructed by dust or paper debris.

Reset Printer Settings: Try resetting the printer to its default settings to resolve any potential software glitches.

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup or Settings, then select Restore Defaults or Reset (depending on the version of the firmware).

Check Paper Alignment: Make sure the paper is aligned correctly in the tray. Sometimes, misalignment can cause issues with the paper sensor.

Firmware Update: Ensure that the printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this via the printer's control panel or HP Smart software.

Try Rebooting: After ensuring everything is in place, power off the printer, wait for 10-15 seconds, then power it back on.

Test with Different Paper: Sometimes, specific paper brands or types can cause detection issues, even if they seem to fit. Try using a different type of paper (e.g., plain or photo paper from a different brand) to rule this out.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
