Officejet 6700 Premium

I have the missing printhead problem that seems to be common with this model. I've done the unplugging routine a number of times and it doesn't help. So far I've gotten to the point where it says if my printer has a replaceable print head, it needs to be replaced, and if not, I need to buy another brand of printer. But at no time does HP's automated system tell me whether the danged printer has a removable printhead.

So, the Officejet 6700 Premium, does it have a replaceable printhead?

You can't do anything if you have an error message on the screen except replacing the printhead first. You can find them on eBay, avoid buying refurbished printheads.

The printhead on OJ 6700 is removable, but not user removable. Replacing a printhead on OJ6700 is not something a user can do easy.

So in other words, buy a new printer.

Thanks for the info.

I really don't know how handy are you with your hands and tools.

Maybe you can replace the printhead yourself, but it's not easy customer replaceable part.

I’m reasonably adept with a screwdriver, though I suspect the part would be almost as expensive as a new printer.

And that’s assuming that replacing the part would actually fix the printer. I don’t know for sure that the printhead in the problem.

How would I test the old part? Where could I get the replacement part?

I looked on Amazon and the reviews were all terrible for the printheads available. They didn't work, the printer didn't recognize them, etc. And they're not available from HP anymore. So it's not likely the part I get would work, and even if it did, I don't know for how long...and I would still have a printer that's not supported if something else were to go wrong.

Time to cut my losses and buy something new that probably prints better anyway.

Thanks for your help making up my mind. 🙂
