We recently had a new maintenance kit installed in our old printer that was working fine. Now we get black dots that are 1 1/2 inches (about 27 mm) apart from one another on each page we print out. We tried the cleaning function 5 times with little to no discernible change as the dots still appear.

Can you confirm the distance as 27mm is not 1.5 inches.
Have you tried a different cartridge?

The only component that causes a 1.5" repetitive defect is the PCR (primary charge roller) which is part of the cartridge. I guess it is possible that you have 2 bad spots on a fuser roller although that does not really match your measurements. Have you physically inspected the fuser for possible damage to either the hot roller or the pressure roller?
