I have an OfficeJet 8010 Series. I have an image that is 3"x5" centered on the page. I have a PDF file that has two pages of the same image in the exact same spot. I want to print it double sided to make it a "two-sided" image. I use Flip on Long edge. It prints on both sides but one image is slightly higher than the other so that it cannot be cut properly. Please advise. -Gabe

Hi @oneillg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

When printing double-sided images with precise alignment, slight misalignments can occur due to printer mechanics and paper handling. Here are some steps you can take to improve alignment on your HP OfficeJet 8010 Series printer:

Step 1: Check Printer Settings

Print Quality:

  • Ensure that the print quality is set to the highest setting. Higher print quality can improve the precision of double-sided printing.

Paper Type:

  • Set the correct paper type in the printer settings. If you are using standard paper, make sure the settings reflect that.

Margins and Scaling:

  • Ensure that there is no scaling or margin adjustments that could be causing the misalignment.

Step 2: Align the Printer

  1. Printer Alignment:
    • Perform a printer alignment from the printer’s control panel. This ensures that the printer heads are correctly aligned.
    • Go to the printer’s control panel, navigate to the maintenance or tools menu, and select the alignment option.

Step 3: Use a PDF Editor for Precise Placement

Adjust PDF Placement:

  • Use a PDF editor (such as Adobe Acrobat) to adjust the placement of the images on the PDF pages.
  • Ensure that both images are centered and positioned exactly the same on each page.

Print Preview:

  • Use the print preview feature to check the positioning before printing. Ensure that both sides look aligned in the preview.

Step 4: Manual Duplex Printing

If automatic duplex printing is not aligning properly, consider manually duplex printing:

Print First Side:

  • Print the first side of the document.

Reload Paper:

  • Once the first side is printed, reload the paper into the printer tray carefully, ensuring it is correctly oriented for the second side.

Print Second Side:

  • Print the second side manually, ensuring the orientation and alignment match the first side.

Step 5: Test with Different Paper

  1. Paper Quality:
    • Use high-quality paper designed for duplex printing. Thicker and smoother paper can reduce misalignment issues.

Step 6: Calibration

  1. Printer Calibration:
    • Some printers have a calibration option that can be accessed through the printer’s control panel or software. Calibrate the printer to improve alignment.

Step 7: Printer Firmware Update

  1. Firmware Update:
    • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available updates for your printer model.

Step 8: HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

By following these steps, you should be able to improve the alignment of your double-sided prints on the HP OfficeJet 8010 Series. If the issue persists, you may need to contact HP Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
