LaserJet M203dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to use the duplexer on my LaserJet M203dw to print duplexed half sheets - e.g. 5.5" W x 8.5" L. No matter what paper I use, i'm not getting duplexed pages - it does one sheet after another.

If I use the same document and application (in this case, a PDF in Acrobat DC Pro) and print to standard letter size, the duplexer works fine.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a minimum media size for the duplexer to work properly, and if so, what is that size? I was hoping to make heavy use of the duplexer specifically for junior-sized pages, so if this guy can't handle that, I definitely need to know. Thanks!

The specifications indicate that only certain paper sizes are supported for automatic duplex.

The user manual explains manual duplex on those paper sizes not supported by the automatic duplex function.

Technical specs state that this device will only duplex standard size A4, letter and legal sized paper. In most cases this is related to the design of the feed path and the distance between feed rollers being too far apart to carry shorter paper sizes.

Apologies, I did not know you had answered and clicked Post!

@ClairelyClaire

You are welcome.

You can usually check the tech specs on the printer at the HP Store - in many cases the information is thorough enough to include what you need to know.

If the printer you are checking does not provide the complete data at the HP Store (in Specifications / Tech specs), you can look up the printer in  Support Home

Open category Product Information > Specifications

As a follow up,

Open category Manuals > Take a good look at the printer user guide for the prospective printer

Stay Safe.
