E3 error won’t go away.  No jam. Unplugged all connectors.  Is this fixable?

When an HP printer experiences an ink cartridge stall, it can usually be resolved by following these steps:

  1. Turn Off the Printer:

    • Power off the printer using the power button.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds before reconnecting the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
    • Turn the printer back on.
  2. Open the Printer:

    • Lift the top cover or access door of the printer to access the ink cartridges. Make sure the printer is turned on before opening it, as the cartridges may need to move to the center for easy access.
  3. Check for Obstructions:

    • Look for any paper jams, foreign objects, or debris that might be obstructing the movement of the ink cartridges. Remove any obstructions carefully.
  4. Reposition the Cartridges:

    • Gently push the ink cartridges to see if they move freely along their track. If they are stuck, gently move them to the center of the printer.
  5. Remove and Reinstall the Cartridges:

    • Remove each ink cartridge from its slot. Check for any tape or packaging materials that might still be attached to the cartridges.
    • Reinsert the cartridges back into their respective slots, ensuring they are properly seated and clicked into place.
  6. Close the Printer:

    • Close the top cover or access door of the printer securely.
  7. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  8. Print a Test Page:

    • Try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved. You can do this through the printer's control panel or the printer settings on your computer.

If the ink cartridge stall persists after following these steps, consider the following additional actions:

  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP website.
  • Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, as non-HP cartridges may cause issues.
